About Tsavo's Red Elephants
Tsavo National Park is home to approximately 500 elephant herds, famous for their distinctive reddish-brown coloration caused by the red soil of the region. These magnificent creatures have become synonymous with Kenya's wild heritage and are a must-see for any safari enthusiast.
The red elephants can be observed during game drives in both Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. Best viewing is during the dry season (June to March) when elephants congregate around water sources and the reddish earth creates a stunning backdrop for wildlife photography.
